Welcome to The Drop, Dante Jordan’s column rounding up all the can’t-miss strains from the best brands and growers. This month, we look at anticipated releases from Zugatti, The Originals, Top-Shelf Cultivation, and more.

Another month, another round of fresh, good weed. Here are seven strains hitting dispensaries in September 2022.

Zugatti: Trufflez x 41

Yo, that Trufflez x 41 by Zugatti is fire. I got blessed with some at the Transbay Challenge, and out of all the smokes I got, this one was right up at the top of my Most Memorable list. The flavor, effects — everything is top tier.

Zugatti’s Trufflez x 41 is a cross of Humboldt Black Truffle and Gelato #41. It was bred and grown by Residential OG. The strain has all kinds of aromas and flavors, and you can expect citrus, peppery, and sweet notes thanks to the dominant terpenes limonene, caryophyllene, and myrcene.

The taste comes through with sweet citrus that gives way to a very relaxing type of experience. Definitely cop this if you ever see it on shelves.

The Originals: Mac #1

Originals Family Farms grow some good weed, man. The brand also has classic strains on deck, like Skywalker and King Louis, but one classic to be on the look for is Mac #1, only grown in small batches.

Mac #1 is a special cut of Miracle Alien Cookies. It was bred by Capulator, who crossed Alien Cookies F2 and Miracle 15. The result gives us a strain that is absolutely coated in trichomes and kicks out a funky, creamy, and gassy terpene profile.

If you’ve never tried Mac #1, definitely slide up on the Originals for that first-time feel-good.

THC Design: Unicornz

THC Design just dropped a bunch of new strains from its new pheno hunt, and that Unicornz is pretty nice.

Unicornz is a sativa-dominant cross of Unicorn Poop and a Pineapple Pezz x Project 4516 hybrid. The result gives you a plant that pretty much smells like pineapples. It’s got that sweet, tropical, and citrus taste, thanks to a terpene profile dominant in limonene, caryophyllene, and myrcene.

The strain gave me a pretty chill high that allowed me to work throughout the day without issue. Go scoop some.

Top-Shelf Cultivation: Whoa-Si-Whoa

Whoa-Si-Whoa is the real fucking deal. Big shouts to Joey from Respect My Region for putting me on. That flower was delicious, punched, and overall made me really happy to share a joint of it with the homies.

Whoa-Si-Whoa was bred by Cannarado Genetics. It’s a cross of The White and Do-Si-Dos — two absolute smackers. The result produces a sweet, earthy, and gassy flavor profile that will have you saying, “Damn, that’s some fire.”

Whoa-Si-Whoa’s primary terpenes are caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, and humulene. Effects-wise, this strain hit me with a mellow, relaxing type of feel that made for an excellent post-work smoke.

Don’t sleep on the Whoa-Si-Whoa from Top Shelf Cultivation. I repeat: do not.

Available: California

GreenlabelRx x Richie Rich: Money

GreenlabelRx partnered with rapper Richie Rich for the Money strain.

Money is a cross of Do-Si-Lato and Lemon Cherry Gelato that very much takes after the LCG. Its aroma and flavor profile feature gassy, lemony cherry notes, and the taste of it, according to GreenlabelRx, is like candy. The effects are said to be very relaxed, but still uplifting enough for you to work all day after smoking Money.

You can get this strain at Cookies in Woodland HillsLemonnade Van Nuys, and Highway DTLA.

Available: California

Sunbright Gardens: Animal Mint Cookie Walker

Sunbright Gardens in Mendocino County is coming in with a new, fresh batch of Animal Mint Cookie Walker. If you love sun-grown cannabis, this might be the one for you.

Animal Mint Cookie Walker was bred by First Cut Farms and is a cross of Cookie Walker and Animal Mint. It has only been in Sunbright’s genetic library for a year, and 2022 is bringing its best rendition of it yet. Animal Mint Cookie Walker’s terpene profile kicks out a mix of sweet, minty, and piney notes. Upon consumption, you get an added note of grape candy.

For me, the high is euphoric and motivational, so if you want a great daytime strain that was grown in the sun, here you go.

Available: California

Burb: Nuclear S’mores

Burb is doing a strain series where musicians are allowed to visit its cultivation facilities, check out the flowers, and choose which strain best represents them. In partnership with rapper Strick, they are dropping Nuclear S’mores.

Burb is exclusively grown by GreenlabelRx in California. The Nuclear S’mores strain was made by GreenlabelRx crossing Gelato #41 with Wedding Cake. The result produces a cultivar that has that sweet, candy-gas type of aroma that is so popular in California these days. The flavor kicks out the same, with added floral and doughy textures.

Effects-wise, you may sense that this one hits you with a variety of different highs, depending on when you smoke it. Overall, it can be both uplifting and relaxing.

Burb’s Nuclear S’mores will be exclusively available at Harborside OaklandUrbn Leaf San Diego, and Dr. Greenthumbs LAX.
