This month of The Drop, Dante Jordan’s column rounding up all the can’t-miss strains from the best brands and growers, looks at anticipated releases from Your Highness, Baby Dojah, Sol. Spirit Farms, and more.

Another month, another round of new strains for you to burn.

Here are five strains you should cop and smoke in May.

Your Highness: Smiley Face

Came upon some Your Highness flower while at a Cali-X event a few weeks ago. Loved it. It had been a cool minute since I had some gassy gas. Checked in with the brand afterward to see what the strain was: Smiley Face.

Smiley Face is a cross of Face Off OG and Animal Mints. This will be their first run of it. Smiley Face has an earthy, herbal, and gassy type of flavor to it. Its top three terpenes are caryophyllene, humulene, and limonene. The effects will have you feeling relaxed in both the mind and body. Burn some Smiley Face and let the stress fall from your shoulders, nahmean?

Available: California

Baby Dojah: Quantum Cookies

Smoked some Baby Dojah diamond-infused joints at a party. Them lil’ shits are perfect for sharing. The taste is good, the burn is smooth, and they make on-the-go smoking super easy. In May, they’ll be coming out with Quantum Cookies. Quantum Cookies is made up of Quantum Kush x Million Dollar Baby flower, then infused with Do-Si-Dos Cookies rosin. Baby Dojah tells me that it tastes fruity, skunky, and earthy. You can expect to feel happy, relaxed, and uplifted after burning some Quantum Cookies Baby Dojahs.

Cali-X: Zlime

Ay man, that Biscoff from Cali-X ain’t half-bad. It ain’t half-bad at all. Soon as I puffed through the 8th of it, I wanted to know what else the brand had to offer. Zlime was my answer. Zlime was bred in-house by Cali-X, and crosses OZX with an undisclosed strain (that you can probably guess from looking at the name). Zlime smells and tastes like earthy Zkittlez candy, with a limey citrus kick on the back end. Cali-X says you can expect a nice lil’ daytime high that won’t knock you out but will be potent enough to help you relax.

Biko: Midnight Gardens

Yo, I rock with Biko. The price is accessible and the flower is pretty damn good. I think of it as a perfect for when I know people expect me to have some heat to share, but I don’t want to smoke all of my $60 weed with 5 heads. Biko’s flavor and potency help maintain my stingy ass stoner authority. You should check out their Midnight Gardens strain. It’s part of their new Red Series premium flower line.

Midnight Gardens is a mega mix of so many hybrids that I won’t even bother to list them. It smells like raspberries and has a similar flavor with added vanilla and cinnamon accents. The strain’s terpene profile features mostly terpinolene, myrcene, and caryophyllene. You can expect a creative, energized, goofy type of high from Midnight Gardens.

Sol Spirit Farms: Something Blue

Sol Spirit is an outdoor farm up north. Let me tell ya, they grew some beautiful flowers. I met these good-hearted folks at Weed Con and they broke me off a few different strains: Headband, White Runtz, and Something Blue. That Something Blue should be called Something Special, because that’s exactly what it is. Soon as I tasted it, I felt Blueberry Muffins vibes. It hits like it too.

Something Blue is a cross of Wedding Cake and Blueberry Muffins. It smells and tastes like sweet berries. The plants are sticky, and most importantly, yo they really really care about the weed up there. Sol Spirit’s Something Blue tests high in myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene. It’s a smooth groove type of high that makes you feel like buying a Cadillac. Relaxing, calming, and potent to the point that you want to sit back and use words like “Daddio” for no apparent reason.
